Community organisations across the UK have the opportunity to apply for funding through the Rowntree’s Free The Fund Community Grant Programme, delivered in partnership with Groundwork UK. The programme aims to support initiatives that bring people together, improve wellbeing and create positive change in local communities.
Grants of up to £10,000 have previously been available to support a small number of community projects that encourage people to connect through activities such as arts, dance, gardening, sports or community events.
The fund focuses particularly on initiatives that improve outdoor spaces or create opportunities for people to come together and take part in community activities, helping reduce isolation and strengthen neighbourhood connections.
Eligible applicants typically include registered charities, not-for-profit organisations and social housing providers delivering projects that benefit local communities.
Applications close at 5pm on Tuesday 31 March 2026.
