Free Bus Travel for Children Available Throughout August

Families across England can save money this summer as children aged 5 to 15 are now able to travel free on participating local bus services throughout August.

The initiative is part of the Government’s Great British Summer Savings campaign, helping families reduce the cost of travel during the school holidays while encouraging more people to explore their local communities, attractions and seaside destinations by public transport. Child bus fares typically cost between £1 and £2 per journey, meaning families could make significant savings over the summer.

The scheme runs from 1 August to 31 August 2026 and applies to participating local bus services across England. It sits alongside other summer savings measures, including discounts on selected family attractions and children’s meals.
