North Lincolnshire Council is inviting residents, carers, professionals and community organisations to help shape the future of its Disabled Facilities Grant (DFG) and Home Assistance Policy.
The Council receives Government funding through the Disabled Facilities Grant programme to help people of all ages remain safe, independent and comfortable in their own homes. Support includes home adaptations such as level access showers, stairlifts, ramps, widened doorways and other improvements that enable people to live independently for longer.
Demand for these services continues to rise. During 2025/26, the Council received a record 495 Disabled Facilities Grant referrals, compared with 228 referrals in 2024/25, and completed 134 home adaptations – the highest number delivered since 2013.
As part of a review of its Home Assistance Policy, the Council is seeking feedback on its discretionary support schemes and welcomes ideas for new ways to improve independent living and ensure services remain accessible, inclusive and responsive to local needs.
The consultation is open until 25 September 2026.
